About Calabasas Cheer
Calabasas cheerleading is a structured team that focuses on being clean, sharp, cheerful, optimistic and creative. The main objective of CHS cheer is to encourage people to participate in sporting events pep rallies, and anything pertaining to the school. The team is made up of Freshman, JV and Varsity squads lead by 8 captains total and Head Coach. The teams cheer, stunt, dance and tumble.
Calabasas Cheerleader Role:
As a cheerleader you are considered a role model and an athlete and shall be looked upon as such. This means you shall conduct yourself in a manor that respects and obeys all superiors and school property and rules at all times. This also means you are not just here to socialize or “wear the skirt,” you are here to WORK!

Coach Rachel Kay- Head Coach- Has been a cheer coach for 12 years and has been coaching Calabasas cheer since January 2011.
Coach Kay has been blessed to have been apart of “So You Think You Can Dance” as a choreographer's assistant from 2006- 2009, was a contestant’s temporary replacement on the show in 2009 season 6, played assistant and co-choroegrapher for the Florida Orange Bowl games in 2007 and 2008, assisted with High School Musical's Corbin Bleu’s music video “push it to the limit.” Coach Kay was a dancer and also assistant for the 2004 mtv movie awards with Lindsey Lohan, Marques Houston, and Omarion Grandberry. She has choreographed for Marques Houston, Tracy Williams, 2 Much, Smooth, and was a choreographer for the discovery kids tv show “Hip Hop Harry.” And if that isn't enough, Coach Kay also did the wardrobe for the Marques Houston’s music video “Wonderful” and Omarion ft. Kat Deluna’s music video “Cut Off Time.”
Coach Kay is certified in Spirit Safety by the AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators), trained in CPR and First Aid and certified in Concussion awareness. Coach Kay was the Birmingham High School cheer coach from 2002- 2007, was the head caoch for the Campbell Hall cheer program from 2009-2011, was the head coach for the Bishop Alemany Hip Hop team 2010-2011 and now currently the head coach for Calabasas and is loving every moment! Besides choreographing field routines and stunts she has put together benefits, fundraisers and school based activities. She teaches organization and untiy for the team members while providing a family type environment. With the assistant coaches by her side there is no telling what heights this program can reach!

Coach Kylie Collinson- Assistant coach- This is her second year as an assistant. Kylie has more then 5 years of cheer expeirence as a base but also as a back spot. Kylie was a Calabasas cheerleader for all 4 years in high school, CPR/First Aid trained, AACCA Certifications in Spirit safety and in cheer and dance, and also has a concussion awareness certification. Coach Collinson is a very well rounded coach being able to assist not just with stunting but with dance choreography, cheer choreography, and tumbling.
